Company History

Cardinal began as a dream in the mind of Michael R. Vaillancourt, Sr. during his career as a printer in the Navy. Upon retiring in 1977, the Vaillancourt family moved to the Fredericksburg area and Mike went to work as a printing specialist at the Navy Printing and Publications Service in the Navy Yard in Washington. Within 6 months, the desire to start a printing business rekindled. The first location for Cardinal was the garage at the Vaillancourt home. Early success (and violation of the subdivision's covenents) prompted a move to a small building on Route 1, in the Four Mile Fork area of Spotsylvania county.

Through the years, Cardinal has grown into the area's largest commercial printing company with over 25 employees. We're proud of the fact that many of the original customers from those early days, have grown their businesses along with us.

We're also very proud of the strong roots we've built in our community. Still family-owned and operated with first and second generation involvement, we pride ourselves on being a complete source for all of your business communications needs.

Cardinal pledges to continue to evolve as a skilled, fast-moving team of professionals ready to learn from each other and meet whatever challenges our customers require of us.
